Online Gambling License – Is Online Gambling Legal in Malaysia?

The Gambling Act of 1953 is a strict regulation on Malaysian gambling activities. There are two different courts in the country, one for the nation’s Muslim population and one for non-Muslims. While the Sharia law is extremely strict when it comes to gambling, the secular law is more relaxed. There are some restrictions when it comes to gambling, and if you are considering starting your own business, you should know about these laws before you make the leap.

Malaysia’s government has also proposed legislation to tax and regulate online gambling. Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Liew Chia Yong Choo said the proposed legislation to amend the Common Gaming House Act 1953 to apply to online gambling would allow the ministry to regulate the industry and rake in taxes. But is the Malaysian government serious about regulating the industry? The answer is yes. While the government is pursuing a license to regulate online gambling, the Malaysian courts have not done so yet.

Although online gambling is legal in Malaysia, there are still some nuances. As there is no online gambling license in the country, a business cannot run an online casino in Malaysia. Malaysians have access to international gambling sites, but the legislation doesn’t explicitly mention this in the country. In addition, the Malaysian government has a number of restrictions that prohibit foreign companies from accepting Malaysian customers. Nonetheless, many people in Malaysia participate in online gambling, which is legal in most countries.
